Learn marketing and management
Current business trends and industry standards are reflected in JCCC's marketing and management classes, which emphasize personal computer use, business communications and human relations.
The program integrates coursework and on-the-job experience to give students the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for entry-level management or sales positions in retail, wholesale or manufacturing and marketing services. Employment of people in this field is expected to increase faster than the average for all occupations nationwide
You can earn an associate of applied science degree in marketing and management at JCCC. The 64-credit-hour program covers the latest business trends as well as the importance of good customer service and the skills needed to deliver that service. Because all marketing and management students work at least 15 hours a week each semester in a store or business, you can apply what you learn in the classroom to your job. You also can take your work experiences back to the classroom for analysis and a greater understanding of the problems businesses face. By integrating coursework and on-the-job experience, you are given the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to reach your career objectives.
Certificate programs are also offered:
- A 17-credit-hour retail sales representative certificate is designed for those seeking positions in the retail industry in Johnson County.
- A 30-credit-hour marketing specialist entrepreneurship certificate prepares you to open your own service business providing marketing services to other businesses.
- A 33-credit-hour sales and customer relations certificate is designed for those employed in sales who wish to refine their skills or who are contemplating a career in sales. The focus is on the steps involved in the selling process and the delivery of effective customer service. All of the credit hours required for this certificate apply toward JCCC's marketing and management associate of applied science degree.
