Learn interactive media at JCCC

Learn to design and develop different types of interactive media at JCCC. When you complete a degree or certificate, you should be prepared to work in a variety of positions within the interactive media field, including writer/editor/researcher, graphics professional, photography/imaging/video professional, music/audio professional, animator, programmer, information designer, interface designer and project manager.

JCCC offers an associate of applied science degree in interactive media. The recently modified 65-credit-hour program provides instruction in the design and development process for different types of interactive media (e.g., screen, Web, CD-ROM, DVD, kiosk), acquiring and managing assets (i.e., text, graphics, sound and video), the history and theory of communication forms, screen design, authoring for interactive media, interface design, and project management.

Certificates are also offered:

  • A new 39-credit-hour interactive media certificate provides instruction in the design and development process needed to deliver information and media, primarily via the Web although the development of other delivery vehicles is also covered. Instruction includes acquiring and managing assets (text, graphics, sound and video), the history and theory of communication forms, screen design, multimedia authoring, interface design and project management.
  • The interactive media certificate can be taken in conjunction with the business plan certificate, a total of 46 credit hours. This dual major is designed to prepare students to open their own business providing interactive media services. Students receive instruction in the design and development process needed to deliver information and media, primarily via the Web. The business plan component focuses on evaluating an idea for a business and concludes with writing a business plan to start and/or grow a business. At the conclusion of study, students receive two certificates.
