Driver Education

The driver education program at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan., helps individuals of all ages obtain their driver's license and become safe and defensive drivers.

Class SchedulesWays to Register

This class will provide:

  • 30 clock hours of classroom instruction
  • Up to six hours behind-the-wheel driving instruction with a dual-brake car
  • Up to six hours of observation with another student

Students must be at least 14 years old and have a current learner's permit.

This program and the instructor are licensed by the state of Kansas.

Defensive Driving
Class Schedules | Ways to Register

This course was created to teach better driving techniques through systematic, standardized training.

Students will learn driving skills and techniques to prevent accidents and view videos that illustrate defensive driving.

This course fulfills the requirement for insurance discounts for the state of Kansas.

Students must have a learner’s permit or driver’s license.

This course is taught by the director of the state of Kansas' driver education program.
