With breathtaking athleticism, mesmerizing music and vibrant choreography, 12 versatile dancers bring the powerfully beautiful story of Helen Keller to life with captivating style and a variety of dance forms.

Thodos Dance Chicago, founded by artistic director Melissa Thodos, has established itself as an innovative presence in American contemporary dance by intersecting dance, architecture and physics.

Buy your dinner ticket online or call 913-469-4445 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Space is limited. To sit together, make one reservation for yourself and your friends. Payments can be split. You must purchase dinner by noon, Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Dinner will be held on the campus in the Capitol Federal Suite in the Regnier Center. Please arrive by 6:15. The first course will be served at 6:30 sharp. You may park in front of the Carlsen Center and follow the signs to the Regnier Center.

    Helen Keller CONNECTIONS Program

    Thodos Dance Chicago takes the inspirational story of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan, through the medium of contemporary dance, to bring awareness to those living with disabilities, and this community’s unique challenges and accomplishments. This program also highlights Helen Keller’s success as a humanitarian, educator and co-founder of the ACLU.

    Excerpts of Thodos Dance Chicago’s A Light in the Dark are performed, with student participation including a section where students hear an audio description of the piece but do not see it. Exercises in nonverbal communication will be incorporated, as well as the use of the sense of touch to identify objects.

    “Breathtakingly athletic,” “powerfully beautiful,” performing “vibrant choreography” are among the many accolades for Thodos Dance Chicago. The Company’s unique mission of inspiring expression through dance education, dance creation and dance performance has established Thodos Dance Chicago as an innovative presence in American contemporary dance.

    Artistic director Melissa Thodos will lead a dance master class with community dance students, which will include excerpts from the Thodos Dance Chicago repertoire.
