“Marilyn Maye has everything. She can belt, and she can sing ballads with the kind of warmth that makes your heart smile. She has a theatrical flair that captivates and enthralls, and jazzspiced chops that can reach notes most singers a third her age can’t even hit in their dreams. She’s the real deal, the surviving artist of the American popular singer.”

About this performance

8 p.m. Yardley Hall

Marilyn Maye sets the standard for any jazz, pop or big band singer, and no one who has ever heard this songbird sing would disagree.

She has a command of the stage that can only come from having spent a lifetime of performing what we now know as the Great American Songbook, including 76 appearances with Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show. She’s recently been wowing New York critics with her new show.

Celebrate the holidays as this Kansas City legend takes the Yardley Hall stage accompanied by a six-piece band of local jazz performers.

Sponsored in part by Harvey S. Bodker.
