Meet rock 'n' roll cellist, Ben Sollee

An exceptional fusion of folk, bluegrass, jazz and R&B, influenced by artists like Randy Newman, Peter Gabriel and Sam Cooke, are combined into thrilling cello playing that mixes new techniques with a resonant sound.

Sollee’s smooth, smoky vocal stylings and a knack for intricate arrangements make his performances intimate and inviting … he shares himself completely with his audience, whether by personal lyrics or his commitment to the environment.

His shows have become legendary and he is sure to be measured alongside the best artists of his generation.

    Ben Sollee is a genre-bending cellist, songwriter known for his thrilling cello playing that incorporates new techniques to create a unique mix of folk, bluegrass, jazz and R&B. Between touring and releasing an album, in the past year Sollee has performed at TEDxSanDiego, composed and recorded performances for two feature-length films and two original ballet pieces.
