Known for merging their country roots with strong melodies and rich vocals, Lonestar visits Yardley Hall at Johnson County Community College on May 6 performing emotionally powerful songs from Never Enders, its recently released tenth album, as well as top-of-the-chart favorites everyone fondly remembers.

For more than 20 years, band members Richie McDonald (lead vocals), Michael Britt (lead guitar and backup vocals), Keech Rainwater (drums) and Dean Sams (keyboards and backup vocals) have logged countless miles touring throughout the world to rave reviews.

Each song on Never Enders mixes artful craft and the poetry of plain speech, each melody rings clear and all of it reminds everyone of how emotionally powerful country music can be. The album captures the Lonestar’s magic: in the love that binds them to their fans, in the music that makes them as fresh and vital as any other band in country music, they are and will always be true believers … truth seekers … story tellers … Never Enders.

Since the group’s national launch in 1995, Lonestar has achieved ten #1 country hits including “No News,” “Come Crying To Me,” and their crossover song “Amazed,” which was also No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the first record since 1983’s “Islands in the Stream” to top both charts. The band’s awards include a 1999 ACM Single of the Year for “Amazed” and the 2001 CMA Vocal Group of the Year.

The Cohen Community Series was inaugurated in 2008 through a gift from Jon Stewart, former vice chairman of the JCCC board of trustees, JCCC alumnus, and former president of Metcalf Bank in honor of the late Barton P. Cohen, president of Metcalf Bancshares, vice chairman and general counsel of Metcalf Bank and an attorney with Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin LLP. Previous artists have included Vince Gill, Josh Turner, Sawyer Brown, Tracy Lawrence, Diamond Rio, Phil Vassar, George Will and Marcus Buckingham.
