On Valentine’s Day, join us when The Friends of Chamber Music-Kansas City partners with the JCCC Performing Arts Series.
Works by Porpora, Handel and Cimarosa.
The Venice Baroque Orchestra brings us the stunning French countertenor, Philippe Jaroussky, who will dazzle us with his glittering technique and the compelling drama of his arias written by the two greatest operatic rivals in history: the German-born George Frederic Handel and the Neapolitan composer Nicola Porpora. The competition unfolds in London during the 1730s, dominating the city’s cultural life and starring some of the most colorful characters of the day including the great castrati Farinelli and Carestini.
