Nelson Escalante, an internationally known artist and current faculty member at Butler Community College in Wichita, will make a presentation at JCCC from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, in the Polsky Theatre. His presentation is free. No tickets are required.
Escalante will also have an exhibit from September 18 to October 18 in the Student Art Gallery on the third floor of the Student Center. His exhibit is part of the college's celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
His presentation and exhibit are both titled "Imperfect Disclosure."
Escalante has exhibited in Europe during the 21st Century Jubilee, and the Hispanic Congressional Caucus in Washington, D.C., sponsored by Coca-Cola and Ford. His lithography was presented to Hillary Rodham Clinton and Al Gore, as well as 100 members of Congress.
He has received the Kansas Governor’s Award for Best of Show, has a permanent installation at Butler CC, has received a long-term commission at the MiCCA Museum of Art in Miami, designing their lobby area, and he has displayed his work at the Miami Design District.
