Model U.N. team earns awards

The Model United Nations team from Johnson County Community College along with Northwestern Polytechnical University received a Distinguished Delegation award at the 2015 National Model United Nations conference for their representation of the United Kingdom.
In addition, the co-team brought home two Outstanding Position Paper Awards and an Outstanding Delegates' Choice Award.
Four JCCC team members were chosen by the conference for staff positions. They include:
- Marie-Kistin Horvat (Lingen, Germany, and Lenexa), chair of the second committee
- Aaron Swift (Olathe), co-chair, General Assembly Committee
- Donald Roth (Prairie Village), co-chair, General Assembly Committee
- Elysia Chao (Overland Park), co-chair, General Assembly Committee
JCCC's team also included Ryan Lefler, Rebekah Gillespie, Meghan Fuller (Overland Park), Suhaib Azzeh (Overland Park), Ani Mamisashvili (Overland Park), Cristina Acosta (Kansas City, Kansas), Faviola Sanchez (overland Park and Elizabeth Andrews (Tonganoxie, Kansas), Khusrav Sharifov (Kansas City, Missouri), Joseph Schumaker (Overland Park), Berrick Lee (Olathe), Sarah White (Overland Park) and Fabiola Sanchez (Overland Park), Megan Deitz (Lawrence, Kansas).
The faculty adviser for JCCC Model United Nations is Brian Wright (Overland Park), professor of political science.
