Housing and Homestay
Housing - JCCC does not offer on campus housing (residence halls or dormitories). However, we do have a Homestay program for I-20 students.
The Homestay Program - offers JCCC I-20 students the opportunity to live a U.S. family’s home as a member of the family. Students who live with a Homestay family improve their English more quickly through conversation and daily interactions with their hosts. Also a Homestay provides students with a clean, safe and caring atmosphere in which to live while they are attending JCCC.
Cost of Homestay - The average monthly stipend for Homestay is currently $400 to $450 per month. The monthly stipend is paid to the host family to cover the expenses of room and board (such as food, electricity, water, local telephone service). Unlike a rental situation, a Homestay provides much more than housing and meals.
The Host Family and Homes - A host family will look forward to developing a relationship with you and involving you in family life and vice versa. They will expect to spend time with you and learn about your traditions, customs and language(s). You will also be invited to join and participate in events and outings the host family has planned. A Homestay provides you the opportunity to practice English, meet new people and have personal care and attention outside of the classroom. For more information, go the www.jccc.edu and type “Homestay” in the search box.
