Professional and Student Organizations - Interior Design
IDSA - Interior Design Student Association
IDSA consists of three professional organizations ASID, NKBA and IIDA. Its mission is to enhance student education, promote student activity in the interior design field and interaction with the professional community on the local and national levels. Monthly meetings provide outside speakers and site visits to local showrooms. IDSA encourages networking and keeps students apprised of ongoing projects and activities. The organization is involved in many philanthropic endeavors, fundraising activities and scholarship promotion.
ASID - American Society of Interior Designers
ASID is a community of people - designers, industry representatives, educators and students--committed to interior design. Through education, knowledge sharing, advocacy, community building and outreach, the Society strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively change people’s lives. Its more than 38,000 members engage in a variety of professional programs and activities through a network of 48 chapters throughout the United States and Canada.
NKBA - National Kitchen & Bath Association
The National Kitchen & Bath Association promotes interaction between students and professionals. NKBA professional members volunteer to mentor students, serve as advisors to educational programs and sponsor a variety of student activities including career days, competitions, outings and local chapter meetings. The kitchen and bath industry realizes the value to students of practical industry experience and provides these valuable experiences to their student members.
- January 2011 - JCCC Alumni Kevin Noble, Linda Cain and Benita Brewer elected to serve as NKBA regional officers.
IIDA - International Interior Design Association
The IIDA works to advance the value of interior design and its practitioners as well as to cultivate leadership within the profession. IIDA has more than 10,000 Members in eight specialty forums, and more than 30 chapters around the world committed to enhancing the quality of life through excellence in interior design and advancing interior design through knowledge.
