Honors Student Association
Each student who joins the honors program becomes a member of the Honors Student Association. The purpose of this organization is to provide opportunities for honors students to get acquainted, share information and engage in informational, scholarly and social activities. A governing board comprised of honors students will determine activities and plan events for the organization. The governing board will be elected each spring semester and all current honors students are eligible to hold office.
Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa is an honor society for students attending two-year colleges. Its mission is to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.
The JCCC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, called Alpha Iota Gamma, is very active. Programs and volunteer opportunities are offered on a regular basis in the areas of leadership, service, fellowship and scholarship. Students who meet the academic criteria (3.5 GPA and at least 12 credit hours) are invited to join the organization each semester and are encouraged to participate in the opportunities it offers, both locally and nationally.
