Honors Graduating Class of 2011

Honors Graduation Requirements

Students wishing to graduate from the honors program will meet the following requirements:

  • Complete 4 one-credit-hour contracts and/or honors sections of courses.
A contract is a one-credit-hour extension of a regular course and honors sections of courses are three-credit-hour classes with enrollment limited to honors students.
  • Present one honors paper or project in a public forum such as the JCCC symposium or to a group of students and faculty in a discipline (such as nursing or public speaking).

Students may also enroll in Honors sections of courses that are 3 credit hours, such as English Composition I, and receive credit for 1 honors contract.

  • Complete 1 Honors Forum class (3 credit hours)
  • Complete two (2) of the following:
  • Meet all requirements to graduate with an associate’s degree and maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA

Students admitted into the honors program are required to meet each semester with the honors program counselor/adviser to plan their program of study. Documentation of the meeting must be provided to the honors office to qualify for early enrollment privileges. In order to remain in good standing in the honors program, students must demonstrate consistent progress toward completion of the program.
