Toby Cook
Toby Cook is in his fifth full season with the Kansas City Royals as Vice President-Community Affairs & Publicity, following a 20-year career in broadcasting. Cook oversees public and community relations for the team, including player and staff appearances, partnerships with civic organizations, and Royals Charities. Prior to joining the Royals, Cook spent 15 years as a news anchor and reporter at four television stations, including WDAF-TV in Kansas City. Prior to joining WDAF-TV, he was a host and co-producer for the morning show at WSET-TV in Lynchburg, Va., where he was named the area Broadcaster of the Year. He also co-hosted and produced the area’s first morning news broadcast at KOAM-TV in Pittsburg, Kansas.
In addition, Cook has taught college-level broadcasting classes and has experience in sports play-by-play and other free-lance announcing.
He has also reported for several radio stations and newspapers. Cook graduated from Pittsburg (Kansas) State University (PSU) in 1990. In 2010, he received the Outstanding Alumnus Award from PSU. He lives in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife, Barbara, and children Adam, Molly, Annabelle, Andrew, and Caroline.
