Honors Program: Dig Deeper, Aim Higher

Honors Courses

Students who meet criteria for admission to the honors program may participate in one of two ways:

  1. Join the honors program, agree to complete requirements, and graduate with honors and a degree. This option entitles you to full access to benefits of the honors program.
  2. Simply enroll in one or more honors contracts. A contract is a one-credit hour extension of a regular course that allows more in-depth investigation of a subject. Sometimes students enroll in contracts for personal enrichment or to expand their expertise in a particular area.

Consider the following before you sign up.

  1. Honors students are expected to complete the assignments required by the honors contract on a timely basis, submit high quality, professional-looking assignments, and meet with mentors promptly at scheduled times.
  2. Students will contact mentors if they are ill or otherwise unable to meet at the scheduled time.
  3. Mentors will notify the Honors office if students miss two scheduled meetings. After two absences, the mentor, the student and Honors office personnel may discuss options for completion of the honors contract.
  4. To withdraw from a contract students must complete an add/drop slip in admissions by the deadline. Withdrawing from an honors contract is the student’s responsibility. Failure to do so will result in an ‘F’ on the transcript.
