JCCC’s Evening with the Stars Looks at Gamma Ray Bursts
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College science department will present An Evening with the Stars at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 21, in the Craig Community Auditorium on the second floor of the General Education Building. The event is free and open to the public.
William Koch, associate professor, astronomy, will give a presentation titled Gamma Ray Bursts – The Most Luminous Events in the Universe.
Following Koch’s presentation, weather permitting, Doug Patterson, associate professor, astronomy, will lead a night sky viewing at the Paul Tebbe Observatory located on the roof of the Classroom Laboratory Building. Some objects of note that will be viewable are the Crab Nebula, Beehive Cluster, Saturn, Venus and moon.
