JCCC building projects acknowledged with Citation Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The 2006 Citation Award for Unbuilt Architecture was awarded last November by the Kansas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects for two construction projects on the Johnson County Community College campus – the Regnier Center and the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. Both buildings are nearing completion.

The Citation Award is given for design excellence and outstanding enhancements to the built environment and acknowledges the collaborative efforts of Gould Evans Associates LC, Overland Park; Kyu Sung Woo Architects Inc., Cambridge, Mass.; J.E. Dunn Construction, Kansas City, Mo.; and Johnson County Community College.

“Great projects don’t happen without visionary leadership from the owner,” said David Reid, vice president, Gould Evans, at the college’s board of trustees meeting July 12. “The strength of this project is a testament to JCCC's team and the college’s vision.”

Reid also acknowledged the support of the Regnier family and the Nerman family, who supported the building projects both financially and in their innovation and quality of human experience.

“This award is a testament to the success of this project, soon to become a major academic and cultural destination for the Midwest and the nation,” Reid said.
