JCCC trustees accept pledge from Capitol Federal Savings

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – At their meeting Aug. 2, the Johnson County Community College board of trustees accepted a pledge of $500,000 from Capitol Federal Foundation, Topeka, to support the construction of the new Regnier Center on the college campus.

When the building opens later this month, the first-floor conference center will be known as the Capitol Federal Conference Center.

The 6,000-square-foot, technology-infused conference center will be available for conferences, multimedia presentations, exhibitions, special events and banquets. It can be used as one large room or divided into halves or quarters.

The Capitol Federal Foundation has supported JCCC for many years through the establishment of the Capitol Federal Scholarship Endowment through the JCCC Foundation and includes the college in its statewide Capitol Federal Savings Scholars program, which provides financial assistance to deserving students.

“This project provides JCCC and the community with an excellent opportunity to further their mission, as well as our mission, of higher education,” said Jack H. Hamilton,  president, Capitol Federal Foundation. “Capitol Federal is proud to aid in this effort, and we look forward with expectation of the many individuals who will take advantage of all that the Regnier Center and the Capitol Federal Conference Center has to offer.”

The college is grateful to Capitol Federal for the generosity of this pledge,” said Terry A. Calaway, JCCC president. “The conference center will be a resource for training and workforce development for both the college and the business community."
