 Summer enrollment at JCCC

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — A total of 8,535 students are enrolled in summer classes at Johnson County Community College, down 1.7 percent from the 8,686 enrolled last summer.

The number of credit hours students are enrolled in is 37,471, a 3.9 percent decrease from last summer’s total of 38,999. Summer classes at JCCC began June 4.

“This summer we’ve seen no change in the number of students who say their educational objective is to transfer; those are often students who comes to us from four-year universities,” said Dennis Day, vice president, Student Services at JCCC.

“However, this summer we’re seeing fewer students who say they are taking courses to help them change careers and more students who say they are in school to prepare to change positions. That tells us that more people have jobs this summer and are taking courses for different reasons.”
