Soprano Returns to Ruel Joyce Series

Susan Campagna at noon Monday, Sept. 18, in the Recital Hall of the Carlsen Center, Johnson County Community College, as part of the free Ruel Joyce Recital Series featuring Kansas City classical artists. Ackin is a frequent performer with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and recently completed four years as artist/educator with Lyric Opera’s Education Department. She has performed with the Dorian Opera Theatre, Fort Worth Opera, Cincinnati Opera and Opera Omaha. She is also a featured soloist with regional orchestras and chamber ensembles, including two performances in the Messiah Festival, Lindsborg. Ackin has been an adjunct professor of voice at William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo., and currently teaches private lessons at Ibsen Dance Theatre. Campagna, director of music at Fairview Christian Church, Gladstone, Mo., received her degree in piano performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, where she studied with the late Joanne Baker. She currently free-lances as a coach and accompanist and has previously worked with the Kansas City, Kansas, School District and Camellott Academy Performing Arts Camp.
