OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Susan Goldenberg, violinist, and William Goldenberg, pianist, perform as the Goldenberg Duo at noon Monday, Oct. 2, in the Recital Hall of the Carlsen Center, Johnson County Community College, as part of the free Ruel Joyce Recital Series featuring Kansas City classical artists.
The brother-and-sister duo have performed for 25 years in recital at U.S. universities and internationally at the Amalfi Coast Music Festival, Italy; American Cathedral, Paris; and St. Peter’s Church, St. Albans, England. They have also traveled in concert to China, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Canada.
Susan Goldenberg has played in the first-violin section of the National Symphony of Costa Rica, Charlotte, North Carolina Symphony and, for 25 years, the Kansas City Symphony. She earned a bachelor of music degree from Indiana University and a master of music degree with a fellowship from Yale University.
William Goldenberg has performed more than 1,000 concerts throughout the world as a soloist and chamber musician. A versatile pianist, he has performed chamber music with many prominent artists, including the Vermeer Quartet, London Symphony Concertmaster Igor Gruppman, Boston Symphony principal flutist Doriot Dwyer, and Berlin Deutsche Opera soprano Amanda Halgrimson. His recordings include sonatas with violinist Pierre Menard, two CDs of composer Oscar Haugland’s Door County Suite and Petite Suite for My Grandchildren, contemporary chamber music (Webern, Berg, Ran) with soprano and clarinet, and duos with Chinese violinist Wei Mei-Mei, recorded in Shanghai.
