JCCC and KSU Sign Articulation Agreement toward Food Science Degree

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – An articulation agreement between the hospitality management program at Johnson County Community College and the department of food science at Kansas State University was signed by representatives from both institutions on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at JCCC.
The agreement provides a joint two-plus-two distance education program that will enable students to meet the requirements for the associate of applied science degree in food and beverage management at JCCC and the bachelor of science degree in food science at KSU. It also provides that a total of 64 semester credit hours in the courses required for the associate of applied science degree in food and beverage management at JCCC will be accepted by KSU as meeting the requirements for the first two years of the bachelor of science degree in food science at KSU.
The staffs at both institutions will coordinate their student services to assure a smooth transition from JCCC.
The agreement was signed by JCCC representatives, Marilyn Rhinehart, vice president, Instruction, and Larry Tyree, interim president; and KSU representatives Curtis Kastner, director, Food Science Institute; Don Boggs, associate dean, College of Agriculture; and Beth Unger, vice provost for Academic Services and Technology, and dean, Continuing Education.
