Cavaliers Improve to 2-0

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The Johnson County Community College women’s soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season, downing Allen County 6-0, Wednesday afternoon in Iola, Kan.  JCCC opened the campaign with a 15-0 blowout over Cloud County.

Six different players scored goals for the Cavaliers.   Stephanie Cooper got the scoring started with a goal just 2:05 into the match on an assist by Fivi Mihai.   The Cavaliers offense then went silent until Andree Volin teamed up with Danielle Langley for a goal just 50 seconds into the second half.  Following that goal, JCCC took control of the match and began to capitalize on their scoring chances.

JCCC’s final four goals came in a seven minute span, from the 52-minute mark to the 59-minute mark into the match.  Chelsea Sheahan scored on a pass from Heather Knearem at 52:01 for a 3-0 lead.  Three minutes later, Sheahan was involved with another score, providing the assist to Volin.  JCCC increased its lead to 5-0 at the 56:40 mark on a goal by Mihai, her fifth of the season.  Brittany Young was credited the assist. The final goal of the game came at 59:11 by Jayme Landgraf on a assist by Cooper.

Liz Casey and Amanda Shrader each played a half in the net, and combined for the shutout.
