Malinda Bryan-Smith
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Malinda Bryan-Smith, consultant with the Kansas Small Business Development Center at Johnson County Community College, has been selected as the 2005 State Star of the Kansas Small Business Development Center Network.

The KSBDC team chose Bryan-Smith for her willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty when two JCCC team members were faced with overwhelming personal issues. According to SBDC director, Cheri Streeter, Bryan-Smith assumed additional administrative and marketing responsibilities to ensure continued high quality service to the center’s small business clients. Bryan-Smith also participated in an assessment of a candidate for the Kansas Award of Excellence on behalf of the KSBDC.

Bryan-Smith is the third JCCC SBDC staff member to receive this award. Streeter received the award in 2001, and Kay Lampe, administrative assistant, received the award in 2003. Only one person from each state is selected for this annual award.
