Pharr-Out Jazz at JCCC

Ed Pharr Trio OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Ed Pharr Trio, known for its mix of upbeat standards and original jazz stylings, performs at noon Tuesday, Oct. 25, in the Recital Hall of the Carlsen Center, Johnson County Community College, as part of the free Jazz Series featuring Kansas City musicians.

The Ed Pharr Trio has been entertaining Kansas City audiences since 1990. With Allen Unklesbay on drums, Lonnie Elliott on bass and Pharr on piano, the group performs jazz standards, popular music, swing, Latin jazz and original compositions for Kansas City hotels and clubs. They have performed at local venues such as Club 427, Fedora’s Restaurant, Cafe Paris, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Carriage Club and Fairmont Hotel. The trio’s recordings are Best Gig in Town and Bo-Bay Bo-Day and the soon-to-be-released Black Tie.

The fall Jazz Series concludes with Alaadeen and group 21 at noon Tuesday, Nov. 1, in the Recital Hall.

Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. The concerts are cosponsored by the JCCC humanities and music departments, Community Services and the Music Performance Trust Fund of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 34-627.
