JCCC Fall Music Concerts Showcase Student, Community Talent

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College will host four October concerts – three by the music department and one by a community ensemble. All concerts are free and open to the public.

  • Oct. 12 – JC Winds, a community symphonic band, will perform  at 7:30 p.m. in Polsky  Theatre. This ensemble, comprised of musicians from the Kansas City metropolitan area, is directed by Ron Stinson, JCCC associate professor of instrumental music. The program will feature the Light Cavalry Overture by Von Suppe; Scenes from the Louvre, Dello Joio; Scenes from Billy the Kid, Copland; and Symphonic Suite, Clifton Williams.
  • Oct. 13 ­– The Chamber Choir and MadRegalia Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Polsky Theatre will be directed by Terri Teal, JCCC associate professor of vocal music. The vocal music concert will feature African music, spirituals, selections by Campion and Brahms, and Renaissance madrigals.
  • Oct. 25 – JCCC Music Masters Concert Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Polsky Theatre, directed by Stinson. Their program will include Intrada Bravura by Timothy Johnson; Fiesta-Val, James Hosay; and October, Eric Whitfield.
  • Oct. 27 – JCCC Jazz Night, featuring the Midnight Blues Jazz Choir and the Midnight Express Jazz Ensemble, will play at 7:30 p.m. in Polsky Theatre, directed by Stinson. Selection will be announced at the concert.
