JCCC Moves Up in Poll in NJCAA Soccer Poll

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The Johnson County Community College men’s soccer team, coached by Fatai Ayoade, moved up to No. 4  in the first NJCAA men’s soccer poll of the 2005 season.  The Cavaliers, who opened the campaign ranked fifth in the preseason poll, stand 6-1 on the season.  The team’s only loss came to No. 3 ranked Yavapai, one the premier soccer programs in country.

In addition to the team poll, JCCC has a presence in the national statistical rankings.  Freshman forward Matt Iverson currently stands tied for 11th int he country for scoring with 16 points scored.  Iverson has netted seven goals and has two assists.  Freshman goalkeeper Mark Lenehan ranks 19th nationally with a goals against average of 0.517.  

The Cavaliers look to continue its winning ways this weekend when they host Western Nebraska on Friday, Sept. 16, at 5 p.m., and Southwestern Illinois on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m.
