JCCC Travelogue Features Ireland

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The richness of Ireland lies not only in the beauty of the land but in the stories and lives of its people. So for its next Windows on the World Travelogue, Johnson County Community College presents Irish Stories and Glories at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in Yardley Hall of the Carlsen Center.

To truly appreciate Ireland, filmmaker Sandy Mortimer introduces the audience to some of those who have lived there throughout the millennium – from prehistoric time to medieval Dubliners to present-day residents enjoying a night on the town. Throughout this country, from north to south, one will see little-known and seldom-seen sites.

JCCC offers six travelogues from September to April. Each travelogue features in-person narration by a leader in the travel-film industry. Refreshments are served at intermission. Programs continue at 2 p.m. in the Carlsen Center on the following dates.

  • Nov. 1, 2005            New Zealand
  • Feb. 7, 2006            Italy’s Fabled Isles: Sicily, Capri, Elba and Sardinia
  • March 2, 2006         Germany
  • April 4, 2006            Natural Wonders of the Southeast Coast:  Virginia Beach to Key West

Tickets are $6 singles; all six films, $28; fall series (September-November), $15; and spring series (February-April), $15. Tickets are available by calling the Carlsen Center box office, 913-469-4445.
