Seats still available for JCCC’s Some Enchanted Evening

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — A few seats are still available for Some Enchanted Evening, the annual fund-raising gala for the Johnson County Community College Foundation.

Tables of eight cost $2,000; individual seats are also available for $200 each. For additional information about tables and tickets, contact the JCCC Foundation at 913-469-3835.

More than 600 people are expected to attend the black-tie dinner and dance, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Overland Park Marriott Hotel. Some Enchanted Evening raises money for scholarships at JCCC. During the last 18 years, the event has raised more than a $2.7 million for scholarship endowment. The Some Enchanted Evening committee expects to raise more than $250,000 this year.

"The hallmark of this event is the source of fulfillment it provides for making students’ dreams and aspirations for an education come true," said Joe Sopcich, Foundation director. "It is truly what makes the evening special."

Some Enchanted Evening also will honor the 2005 Johnson Countian of the Year. Ed Eilert, former mayor of Overland Park, will be recognized for his outstanding service to the community.

Forty sponsors have already pledged more than $240,000 to the scholarship event. The Victor & Helen Regnier Charitable Foundation is an underwriter, with a contribution for $15,000. Open Petal sponsors, who have donated $10,000 each, are BNSF Railway, Credit Union of Johnson County, Gold Bank, Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors, the Shull Family Charitable Fund and Sprint. Sunflower sponsors, contributing $7,500 each, are Capitol Federal and Midwest Trust/Financial Counselors Inc.

Maroon & Gold sponsors have donated $5,000 each to the event: Applied Measurement Professionals; Ash Grove Cement; Bank of America; Bank of Blue Valley; Bank Midwest; Bayer Corporation; BKD, LLP; Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin LLP; Community Foundation of Johnson County; DST Systems Inc.; Gill Studios; Gold Bank; Hallmark Cards Inc.; Humana; J.E. Dunn Construction Company; Kansas City Power & Light Company; Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences; Kansas Gas Service; KPMG LLP; Lathrop & Gage L.C.; Lockton Companies; Menorah Medical Center; Metcalf Bank; Olathe Medical Center Inc.; Price Brothers; Rau Construction Company; Shawnee Mission Medical Center; Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP; UMB Bank; Walter P. Moore & Associates Inc.; and Walton Construction Company Inc.

"This evening and the many scholarships it funds would not be possible without the tremendous support of sponsors and the hard work of a dedicated planning committee," Sopcich said.

The Some Enchanted Evening committee is co-chaired by Steve and Wanda Wilkinson, Overland Park.
