JCCC sees increase in fall enrollment

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — For the fall 2005 semester, credit class enrollment at JCCC is 18,680, an increase over the total of 18,627 in fall 2004. The number of credit hours in which students are enrolled is 154,510, an increase of 2.5 percent over fall 2003. This is the highest enrollment the college has yet recorded. Because several classes have yet to start, the final total for fall enrollment will be even greater at the end of the year.

When registrations for business, professional education and personal enrichment classes and workshops through the college’s Continuing Education and Community Services division are considered, JCCC will serve about 34,000 people this semester.

Charles J. Carlsen, JCCC president, attributes the college’s large enrollment to the college’s ability to serve students well.

"The quality of our classes and our professors brings students to our doors," Carlsen said.
