JCCC sees changing enrollments

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. —Johnson County Community College’s spring 2008 semester enrollment is 17,760, up 2.6 percent from the spring 2007 total of 17,312. The number of credit hours those students are enrolled is 142,663, an increase of 1.4 percent over the spring 2007 total of 140,674.

“Many factors affect our enrollment,” said Terry Calaway, JCCC president. “We often see enrollment increases when the economy is worrisome. But our new buildings have given us more classrooms, so we’re also able to accommodate more students who want to take classes.”

These figures represent totals reported to the state as of the 20th day of classes. Enrollment will continue to grow throughout the semester as students enroll in classes that start later in the spring.
