JCCC's Brown & Gold Club Hosts Moonlight Serenade Orchestra

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Johnson County Community College's Brown & Gold Club presents The Moonlight Serenade Orchestra at 8 p.m. Friday, May 23, in Yardley Hall of the Carlsen Center. A reception of assorted small desserts begins at 7 p.m. in the Carlsen Center lobby.

People of all are ages are invited to take a nostalgic trip back to the re-creation of an authentic World War II USO canteen show. The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are required.

The 17-piece swing band, dressed in authentic WWII U.S. Army Air Corps uniforms, plays all the hits reminiscent of the great bands like Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington. Vocalists sing hits by Frank Sinatra, Tex Beneke, The Andrews Sisters and many other celebrities of the era. You’ll hear favorites like In The Mood, Little Brown Jug, Moonlight Serenade, American Patrol, Sing Sing Sing and Bugle Boy from Company B.

JCCC Brown & Gold Club, an organization for Johnson County residents 55 and older, is hosting the event, which is open to anyone.  For more information about the Moonlight Serenade show, call the Brown & Gold office at 913-469-8500, ext. 4305.
