Nick Haines Receives JCCC’s Headline Award

Haines is head of news and public affairs programming at KCPT Public Television. While he's best known as host of Kansas City Week in Review, Haines oversees KCPT's expanding schedule of topical news shows from Ruckus to Talkback Live. He is a former BBC radio news reporter and holds a degree in government from the University of Essex, United Kingdom.
Haines joined KCPT in 1999 after a 10-year career in public radio news. He is the former news director of KANU in Lawrence and for three years covered the Kansas legislature as a statehouse correspondent for Kansas Public Radio. His reports have been featured on National Public Radio and the Voice of America.
In 2006, The Pitch newspaper named him Kansas City's Best TV Host. In 2005, Kansas City magazine listed Haines among the 50 People You Ought to Know in K.C. The Missouri Association for Social Welfare recently honored Haines with its annual Excellence in Journalism Award.
Haines is a native of Great Britain. He was born and raised in Port Talbot, a South Wales steel town that also produced actors Richard Burton and Anthony Hopkins. He echoes his grandmother's words when he adds, "and good things comes in threes."
