JCCC Program Receives ABA Approval

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The American Bar Association House of Delegates granted reapproval to the paralegal/legal nurse consultant program at Johnson County Community College on Feb. 11, extending the program’s approval to the year 2014.

JCCC received its first ABA approval in 1980, the first  paralegal program in Greater Kansas City to receive the distinction. JCCC has received subsequent ABA reapproval ever since. The ABA standards and guidelines pertain to a program’s organization, administration, curriculum, faculty, admissions, placement, library and support facilities.

After May, JCCC will be the only ABA approved paralegal/LNC program in the metro area. JCCC paralegal/LNC faculty have juris doctor degrees and memberships to bar associations at the national, state and county levels. JCCC awards a paralegal associate’s degree, paralegal certificate, LNC certificate and LNC entrepreneurship certificate (LNC students must be registered nurses prior to admission).

For more information, contact Anita Tebbe, JCCC professor and career program facilitator, paralegal/LNC program,  913-469-8500 ext. 3184.
