‘What It Takes to Be Successful’ is next Polsky lecture

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The Polsky Practical Personal Enrichment Series will present Norman Polsky speaking on What It Takes to Be Successful from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, in the Polsky Theatre of the Carlsen Center, Johnson County Community College.

The seminar is free, but seating is limited. Reserve tickets by calling the JCCC box office, 913-469-4445. Reserved covered parking is available. Refreshments and networking are offered one-half hour before and after the program.

Polsky will cover the topics of:

  • Health for you and your family
  • Financial independence for you and your family by investing in mutual funds 20 percent 5 years annualized
  • Philanthropy for you and your family by volunteering and contributing or establishing endowments
  • Polsky’s 10 commandments for success
  • Power of Kindness for you and your family, making it work

Polsky was chairman of Fixtures Furniture, which he founded in 1947 and sold in 1996. The company manufactured commercial furniture in cooperation with their German partner, Froescher Sit-Form. Polsky was a U.S. Marine infantry officer during World War II and graduated from the University of California-Los Angeles in business with four years of engineering from Junior College of Kansas City and Purdue University. Polsky married Elaine July 4, 1946, and they had a daughter and three sons producing three granddaughters and two grandsons.

Polsky believes success comes from organized-fast-long hours, continued learning, networking and building relationships, integrity, obtaining a mentor, building a brand and maintaining a sense of humor.
