OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Bill Bowers, internationally known mime and Broadway veteran, will present his hit solo play, It Goes Without Saying, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the Polsky Theatre of the Carlsen Center, Johnson County Community College.  A reception follows in the Virginia Krebs Community Room.

It Goes Without Saying, sponsored by the JCCC theater department and the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, is free and open to the public.

In his 75-minute performance that blends mime and storytelling, Bowers shares stories, both heart-breaking and hilarious, from his career and his lifelong exploration of the role silence plays in all our lives.

It Goes Without Saying takes the audience on a scenic tour of Bower’s life thus far —  from growing up gay in the wilds of Montana, to his outrageous jobs as a performer, to the whirlwind of working on Broadway, to studying with Marcel Marceau.

Bowers’ work has been compared to that of David Sedaris, Claudia Shear and Augustin Burroughs. He has appeared on Broadway in The Lion King and The Scarlet Pimpernel and on the stages of Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden and Kennedy Center. He was featured in the film, Two Weeks Notice, with Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant.

It Goes Without Saying opened in New York City to good reviews  and is now touring the United States. For more information, contact Beate Pettigrew, assistant professor, theater, at 913-469-3245.
