JCCC’s Swab and Pemberton earn volleyball All-America honors

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Johnson County Community College hitters Jackie Swab (Olathe East) and Sydney Pemberton (Prairie Village, Kan.) were each selected to the 2007 National Junior College Athletic Association Volleyball All-America Team. Swab, a sophomore, earned first-team honors, and Pemberton, a freshman, was a second-team selection. Both players were also first-team All-Region VI/District N and All-East Jayhawk Conference performers this year. Their efforts helped JCCC to a 28-5 record, an undefeated conference season and a runner-up finish at the 2007 NJCAA National Tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Swab led the team with 358 kills and an attack percentage of .349. She averaged 3.3 kills per match. She also was second on the team with 104 blocks. Her 358 season kills ranks 10th at JCCC. She record 705 kills for her career, which ranks her third all-time in team history. She also ranks 11th all-time with 284 career blocks.
Pemberton was second to Swab in both kills and attack percentage at 350 and.348 respectively. She led the team with 132 blocks. Her 350 kills rank 13th on JCCC’s season chart, and her 59 solo blocks tie the 12th-best season at JCCC.
