JCCC women's  track fourth in region, runner-up in conference

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The Johnson County Community College women’s track and field team posted a fourth-place finish in the region and finished second in the East Jayhawk Conference standings last weekend.    A total of 12 individuals accounted for 19 All-Region VI honors for JCCC.  Only Jara Cornett was an individual region champion, placing first in the javelin with a mark of 149-4.  She is the sixth Cavalier thrower in team history to win a region championship in the javelin.

Second-place efforts were turned in by Cambrielle Shaw in the 400-meters, Lavina Dent in the 400-hurdles and both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.
 
Results:
•400-meters – Cambrielle Shaw (57.86, 2nd in region, 1st in conference) Anjah Clemons (1:00.79, 6th in region, 2nd in conference)
•800-meters – Niki Wright (2:25.46, 3rd in region, 2nd in conference) Danielle Houltberg (2:25.56, 4th in region, 3rd in conference)
•1,500-meters – Christa Heideman (4:55.15, 3rd in region, 2nd in conference) Jackie Jamison (4:59.35, 5th in region, 4th in conference) Andrea Young (5:29.65, 12th in region, 6th in conference)
•10,000-meters – Kay Thomason (44:46.82, 4th in region, 3rd in conference)
•400 Hurdles – Lavina Dent (1:05.92, 2nd in region, 1st in conference)
•4x400 – Lavina Dent, Anjah Clemons, Niki Wright, Cambrielle Shaw (3:57.57, 2nd in region, 1st in conference)
•4x800 – Danielle Houltberg, Christa Heideman, Sarah Dupree, Jackie Jamison (9:42.12, 2nd in region and conference)
•High Jump – Leslie Reynolds (4-11, 4th in region, 2nd in conference)
•Shot Put  – Katy Davenport (38-2, 6th in region and conference)
•Javelin – Jara Cornett (149-4, 1st in region and conference)
