JCCC athletes are listed in Track and Field News

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Several members of the 2007-08 JCCC men’s and women’s track and field team were recently listed in the December 2007 issue of Track and Field News in an article regarding top recruiting classes in the country. JCCC had eight individuals( 4 men, 4 women) listed in the article, the most of any of the community colleges in the publication. The four men were freshmen Patrick Youngblood (Tulsa, Okla.), Withley Williams (Weatherford, Okla.), Eugene Williams (Miami, Fla.) and Kali Jackson (Cahokia, Ill.). The women were Felicia Black (Miami, Fla.), Kyericka Cole (Garland, Texas), Tiana Davis (Kansas City, Mo.) and Whitney Miller (Cleveland, Ohio).
Youngblood, a short sprinter, was listed in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.36. As a prep athlete at Jenks High School, he earned four individual Oklahoma 6A All-State honors as a sprinter. He was the Oklahoma 6A state champion as a senior in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. His junior year, Youngblood was the state champion in the 200-meters, and placed second in the 100-meter dash.
Eugene Williams, a sprinter and jumper from Killian High School, is listed in the 100-meters with a time of 10.60. Williams posted a second-place finish in the 200-meters at the Florida 4A State Championships his junior year. He won 200-meters at the FHSAA 4A Region and District 16 Championships. Ranked among the top 15 200-meter runners in the country entering his senior year, Williams season was cut short by an injury. As a long jumper, Williams best mark was 22'11.75".
Withley Williams, a short sprinter, was also listed in the 200-meters with a time of 21.13. He earned six Oklahoma 4A All-State accolades as a prep sprinter. He was the Oklahoma 4A state champion as a junior in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. In 2007, he placed fifth in the 100-meter dash while competing for his country St. Kitts-Nevis at the Carifta Games.
Jackson, a combination jumper, is a transfer from Rend Lake College. He is listed in the triple jump with a mark of 52'5.75". As a prep Jackson was an Illinois 2A All-State performer twice. His senior year, Jackson was the Illinois 2A state champion in the long jump and he was the state triple jump champion as a junior. He added to his list of accomplishments by winning the USATF Junior Championships and Nike Outdoor Nationals in the triple jump shortly after his senior year.
Black, a combination hurdler, is listed in 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.24. Black earned nine Florida 4A All-State honors at Southridge High School. Her senior year, Black placed first at the Florida 4A state meet in the 300-meter hurdles. At the state meet her junior year, she placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles. As a sophomore, Black raced to a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash.
Cole, a short sprinter at Naaman Forest High School, is listed in the 100-meter hurdles with time of 11.87. Cole earned two Texas 5A All-State honors. She placed fourth at the Texas 5A state meet in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes her senior season.
Davis, a local product from Park Hills High School, is listed in the 100-meter hurdles with a time o14.39. As a prep athlete, Davis earned six Missouri 4A All-State honors. Her senior year she was the Missouri state champion in the 100-meter hurdles, and earned All-State accolades in the long jump and triple jump as well. Her junior campaign, she was All-State in all three events.
Miller, a combination hurdler, is listed in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles with times of 14.48 and 43.27 respectively. A standout at Collinwood High School, Miller earned 12 Ohio D-1 All-State honors. Her senior year she placed second at the Ohio D-1 state indoor meet in the 60-meter hurdles, and was sixth in the 400-meter dash. Outdoors her senior season Miller placed third at the state meet in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles.
