JCCC set to open softball season Tuesday

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The Johnson County Community College softball team, ranked No. 8 in the NJCAA Division II Coaches Poll, will open its 2006 season Tuesday, Feb. 14, against Mid-America Nazarene.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

This game was originally schedule for Saturday, Feb. 18, but both teams agreed to move the game up to take advantage of the favorable weather conditions.

The Lady Cavaliers posted a 47--14 record last year, and ended the season ranked ninth in the final NJCAA poll.  Six players return from that squad, including All-America pitcher Katie Jeannin, and All-Region VI performers Megan Goings, MacKenzie Magenheimer and Jennifer Narcomey.

JCCC is coached by Frank Barnes, who enters in 10th season at JCCC. He has a career record of 445-118.  He is the all-time wins leader at JCCC.
