Two JCCC Softball Players Earn All-America Honors

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Two players from the Johnson County Community College softball team earned All-America accolades for outstanding play in the 2005 season. Katie Jeannin, a freshman from Leavenworth, Kan., was named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) second-team All-American. Kathy Kiblinger, a freshman from Piper High School, was named first-team NFCA All-American. Both players also garnered East Jayhawk All-Conference and All-Region VI honors while leading JCCC to a 47-14 record and a No. nine ranking.

Jeannin, a left-handed pitcher, posted a record of 19-4, with 136 strikeouts and an earned run average of 0.33. She worked 169 innings, completed 18 of her 25 starts, recorded nine shutouts and two no-hitters. Jeannin also held her opponents to a batting average of .187, best on the staff. Jeannin also ranks among the the top hurlers in the NJCAA. Her ERA is the lowest in the country, and she ranks among the top 25 in strikeouts per inning. Jeannin’s 19 victories rank tie for ninth on JCCC’s season chart, and her nine shutouts, 18 complete games, 136 strikeouts rank tied for seventh, tied for 11th and 12th respectively.

Kiblinger, a first baseman, was one of the top hitters in the country this season. She led the squad with a .466 average, which also ranks tied for 29th nationally. She also tied for third in the NJCAA with 13 home runs, and her .466 average ranks 17th nationally. That total is the second highest season output in the team history. Kiblinger also led the squad in doubles with 29, and RBI with 51. Her 29 doubles are a new season record at JCCC.
