Seven Cavaliers earn All-Region VI softball accolades

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Seven members of No. 7 ranked Johnson County Community College softball team were recently named as NJCAA All-Region VI performers for the 2007 season.  Pitcher Emily Dye, catcher Aubree Brattin, infielders Krista Cummings and Tiffany Carter and outfielder Katie Mathis were selected to the first team.  Second-team honors went to infielder Tracey Anderson and outfielder Kacee McDonald.    These players  helped JCCC capture its first conference championship since 2002, and the No. 1 seed in the Region VI Tournament.  The Cavaliers stand 39-12 overall and are ranked seventh in the latest NJCAA coaches poll.

Emily Dye has proven to be a key addition.  A sophomore transfer from UMKC last fall, Dye ranks ninth in the country with a 1.15 earned run average.  She is 16-3 overall with 112 strikeouts in 127.1 innings of work.

Krista Cummings and Tiffany Carter led the team with a .449 average, which ranks them tied for 31st in the country.  Cummings also leads the squad with 66 hits and 15 home runs.  Her home run total ranks fifth nationally, and ties her with Kelly Ussery for all-time season record at JCCC.  She also has 44 RBI with rank 36th in the NJCAA

Tiffany Carter is second in hits with 62, and leads the squad with 57 RBI.  She also has 10 home runs.  Her 57 RBI rank tied for 11th in the country, and her 10 homers tie for 16th nationally.  Additionally, her 57 RBI tie the sixth-best season in team history, and she is eighth on the season home run chart.

Aubree Brattin is hitting a .365 clip, and has 50 hits, including eight home runs, and 32 RBI.  Tracey Anderson is batting .344, and is tied for second in hits with 62.  She also has seven round trippers and has driven in 41 runs.  Katie Mathis is hitting .352, and is also tied for second with 62 hits.  She also has 26 RBI and leads the team in stolen bases with 17.  Kacee McDonald is hitting at a .326 clip and has 43 hits and 26 runs driven in.
