OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Johnson County Community College sophomores Kacee McDonald and Krista Cumming were among the 12 players selected to the 2008 NJCAA Division II Tournament Team. They helped the Lady Cavaliers to a tie for fifth-place in the tournament.

McDonald was the No. 2 overall hitter in the tournament, batting .700 (7-for-10) with a double and three runs scored. Her seven hits tied for third and her .272 on base percentage was second among all players. McDonald was also perfect in the field, recording six putouts and no errors.

Cummings, an all-tournament and first-team All-America selection last season, hit .400 (4-for-10) with two home runs and four RBI. Her two home runs tied for fourth in the tournament. Cummings also was perfect in the field, recording six put outs and three assists.

Both players had outstanding seasons and careers at JCCC, and have left a lasting impression on the all-time lists in team history. McDonald hits .414 on the season (67-for-162) with 11 doubles three triples, six home runs and 44 RBI. For her career, McDonald hit .349 (113-for-324) with 26 doubles, four triples, eighth home runs and 71 RBI. She ranks tied for 12th in career doubles, tied for 14th in career home runs and 20th in career RBI.

Cummings hit a team-best .447 in 2008 (67-for-325) with eight doubles, 18 home runs and 54 RBI. Her .447 average tied the 18th-best season, her 54 RBI tie for 10th and her 18 home runs are new season standard. She broke her own season mark of 17 set in 2007. For her career, Cummings hit .437 (142-for-325) with 16 doubles, 35 home runs and 106 RBI. Her 35 home runs shattered the previous career high of 26. She also ranks among the all-time career leaders in average (T-13th), hits (14th) and RBI (6th). She is one of only seven players to have over 100 RBI in a career.
