Lady Cavaliers win two more, remain unbeaten

OVERLAND PARK, KS --  The No. 9 ranked Johnson County Community College women’s soccer team won two games last week, remaining unbeaten for the season.  The two wins upped the Lady Cavaliers season mark to 8-0-1.

In the first victory, a 5-2 road win at Northern Oklahoma, JCCC faced its first deficit of the season.  In fact, JCCC faced a two -goal deficit after  Northern Oklahoma’s Megan Miller found the back of the net twice in a span of two minutes early in the match.

JCCC managed to pull even within the next 11 minutes on goals by Emily Leeper and Rachelle Luster.  The Lady Cavaliers took the lead for good just three minutes into the second half, on a goal by Danielle Blevins.  Courtney Cowan provided the assist, her second of the game. Chelsea Sheahan and Luster added two more goals late in game, giving JCCC a comfortable cushion.

JCCC followed with another road victory, downing Cisco Junior College on a neutral field in Dallas, Texas.  JCCC built a two goal lead at the break on scoring shots by Luster and Blevins.  However, Cisco quickly got back in the match with goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half.  Luster broke the 2-2 tie at the 69-minute mark with her second goal, and Blevins added an insurance goal in the 78th minute, also her second of the game.

Luster scored four goals and three assists in the two victories.  She leads the team in goals with 15, assists with 12 and points with 42.  Her 42 points tie for third in the NJCAA.  Blevins is second on the team in goals with 14 and points with 36.  She ranks tied for sixth nationally in total points.
