Three Cavaliers rank among top 10 scorers in the NJCAA

OVERLAND PARK, KS --  Three members of the Johnson County Community College women’s soccer team, freshmen Rachelle Luster, Danielle Blevins and Emily Leeper, are currently ranked among the top 10 scorers in the NJCAA.

Luster, a graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, leads the team and is ranked second in the nation with 75 total points.   That total is a new team record at JCCC.  She just recently broke the old mark of 72 in JCCC 5-2 win at Hutchinson, Oct. 16.  Luster had a goal and two assists in that victory.  She has tallied 25 goals and has 25 assists this season, both are team highs.  She also leads the squad with six game-winning goals.  Her 25 goals rank third on JCCC’s season chart, and her 25 assists  tie her with Emily Knop for first all-time.

Blevins, a graduate of Topeka West High School, is second to Luster in scoring with 63 points, tallying 22 goals and 19 assists.  Her 63 total points rank tied for fifth in the NJCAA.  Blevins 63 points are the fifth-highest season total in JCCC history.  She needs six more points to pass Jenny Wallen for fourth all-time.  Her 19 assists tie her for third at JCCC, and her 22 goals tie for sixth.  Blevins recently tied a single-game record at JCCC, recording five assists in a 12-0 win over Cloud County.

Leeper, a graduate of Topeka High School, is the third of JCCC’s top scorers, ranking tied for ninth nationally with 56 points.   Leeper, who earlier in the year netted a school and Region VI record six goals in a win over Coffeyville, has 24 goals and nine assists on the season.  Her 24 goals rank fifth for a season at JCCC.

Freshman Courtney Cowan, a graduate of Olathe South High School, is also ranked among the NJCAA scoring leaders. She is currently tied for 39th with 34 total points.  Cowan has 12 goals and 10 assists on the season.
