Blevins Selected NJCAA D-I Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, KS --  The National Junior College Athletic Association announced yesterday the inaugural women’s Division I soccer players of the week for the 2006 season, and Johnson County Community College freshman forward Danielle Blevins was one of the two players selected.  She is the third player in the team’s history to earn this honor.  Kalila Peterson, a goalkeeper from Cochise College (Ariz.) was the goalkeeper of the week.

Blevins, a graduate of Topeka West High School, accounted for 58 percent of the 12th ranked Lady Cavaliers scoring in their two matches last week.  Her five-goal, two-assist performance in JCCC’s 11-0 victory over St. Louis-Florissant Valley tied the second-best single game performance in the program’s history.   She then scored two goals and was credited with an assist in JCCC 7-2 victory over Southwestern Illinois.

Blevins also earned her KJCCC Player of the Week honors for her performance last week.
