Luster adds to record setting season in 14-1 win over Allen County
OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Johnson County Community College forward Rachelle Luster continues to amaze. The freshman from Shawnee Mission Northwest set the single-game points mark in a 14-1 win over Allen County yesterday, finishing with 16 points on six goals and four assists. Her six goals tie the single-game record, a mark she set earlier in the season. To date, Luster has 91 points on 31 goals and 29 assists. Her 91 points shatter the previous season record of 72. Her 29 assists are also a new season mark, and she is one goal away from the season record in that category.
Luster began the barrage just six minutes into the the match, then added four more by halftime. She netted her record-tying sixth goal in the 63rd minute.
Another key effort was turned in by Danielle Blevins, a freshman forward from Topeka, Kan. Blevins netted four goals, and increased her season points total to 71, which is currently the third-best season in JCCC history. Blevins scored JCCC’s third, sixth, eighth and 13th goals in the match.
Topeka native Emily Leeper, the team’s third leading scorer this season, was credited with two goals and two assists, which upped her season points total to 62.
Rounding out the scoring for JCCC were freshmen Courtney Cowan and Lara Jounusas, each with one goal. Cowan also had an assist. Sophomore Chelsea Sheahan was credited with two assists. Single assists were provided by sophomores Lindsey Wiese and Ashley Daniels, and sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Shrader, her first collegiate point.
