OVERLAND PARK, KS --  Johnson County Community College sophomores Emily Leeper (Topeka,Kan.) and Rachelle Luster (Shawnee Mission Northwest) of the women’s soccer team were named to the 2007 NJCAA All-American Team.  Leeper was selected to the second-team, and Luster was an honorable mention selection.  Both players end their careers ranked as the top scorers in the program’s history.  They helped the Cavaliers to a 19-3-1 record in 2007, and to a 37-4-3 mark in their two seasons at JCCC.

Leeper finished second on the team in points (65), goals (23) and assists (19).  She tied for second in game winning goals with three, and game winning assists with three.  She also recorded five multiple-goal matches and led the team with six multiple-assist matches.  Her 65 total points ranked 12th in the NJCAA.  Her freshman season, Leeper finished with 79 points on 31 goals and 17 assists.  Her 79 points ranked fourth in the NJCAA.

For her career, Leeper ranks second all-time in career points (144), third and eighth in season points (79 and 65), second in career goals (54), fourth and eighth in season goals (31 and 23), tied for first in career hat tricks (6), tied for second in career assists (36), tied for fifth and ninth in season assists (19 and 17) and tied for second in career game winning goals (7).

Leeper also had some of the top individual match performances in team history.  Earlier this year, she scored four goals and four assists for 12 points in a win over Cloud County.  In her second collegiate game as a freshman, Leeper netted six goals against Coffeyville, and late in the year had three goals and a single-game record five assists in a win over Cloud County in the region tournament.

Luster leaves as the most decorated player in team history.  She was a second-team All-American last year, making her the only two-time NJCAA All-American in JCCC soccer history.  She led the squad in points (69), goals (24) and assists (21) this season.  Her 69 points tied her for seventh in the nation.  She also had three hat tricks and led the team with seven game winning goals.  Luser also led the Cavaliers with seven multiple-goal matches and was second with five multiple-assists matches.

Luster’s freshman year was one of the record books.  The conference and region MVP in 2006, Luster finished the campaign as the nation’s scoring champion with 103 points, becoming the first player in team history to top 100 points in a single season.  She broke the previous JCCC season mark by 31 points.  She scored 34 goals and had 35 assists.

For her career, Luster is the program’s record holder in season points (103), career points (172), career goals (58), career hat tricks (6), career game winning goals (15), season assists (35), season game winning assists (7), career assists (56) and career game winning assists (9).  She also ranks sixth in season points (68), second and sixth in season goals (34 and 26), second and tied for third in season game winning goals (8 and 7) and fourth in season assists (21).

Luster netted a career high six goals against Allen County her freshman year, and had four-goal matches as a freshman and sophomore.  Three times in her career she was credited with four assists in a match.
