Luster sets season scoring mark, leads JCCC to win over Hutchinson

OVERLAND PARK, KS --  Johnson County Community College freshman forward Rachelle Luster set the season scoring mark at JCCC Monday afternoon, while leading the Cavaliers to a 5-2 road victory over Hutchinson.  Luster entered game needing just one point to tie the record of 72 points in a season held by Shannen Taylor.  Just two minutes into the match, Luster was in the record book, assisting Danielle Blevins for the game’s first goal.

Luster,  a graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest,  later added a goal and another assist, bringing her season point total 75 on the season. Luster has 25 goals and 25 assists on the season.  Luster’s goal, the team’s third, proved to be the game-winner.  Blevins was credited with the assist to Luster.  She also had an assist on the second goal scored by Courtney Cowan.  Blevins upped her season point total to 63 with her one goal, two assist day.

Freshman Emily Leeper provided JCCC’s final two goals in the match. She is the team’s third leading scorer with 56 points.  Her 24 goals scored rank second behind Luster.

The Cavaliers, 14-0-2 and ranked 10th nationally, close out the regular season portion of their schedule Thursday afternoon when the host Allen County.  The match is schedule to begin at 2 p.m.
